Prof. Dr. Christian Lammert is Professor of Political Science and Professor of North American Politics and Policy at the John F. Kennedy Institute for North American Studies,. His research focuses on U.S. and Canadian political systems, comparative welfare-state research, social and health policy, taxation, inequality, democratic legitimacy, and the relationship between state and market. He received his PhD in Political Science from Goethe University Frankfurt in 2002 and has held his professorship at FU Berlin since 2012. His work bridges comparative political science and North American studies, with particular attention to how inequality, polarization, and public policy shape democratic governance. He is the author and co-author of several books on U.S. politics, democracy, and social policy, including Democracy in Crisis and Legitimizing Authority: American Government and the Promise of Equality.
